HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) - Despite the best efforts of some neighbors on Hilton Head Island, a large live oak tree was removed on Wednesday.
Crews got to Shelter Cove took the tree down bit by bit. The tree has been the center of attention since the neighborhood's board members voted about two months ago to have it cut down.
Experts say the tree had about 70 percent decay that reached up toward the old oak's wilting canopy.
