Big John WEATHER Summary & Discussion
(Issued Fri, Apr 13th, 2012)
Upper 60s Friday, near 70 on Saturday, so things remain the same.
A very "stable atmosphere for the weekend." That's a common weather statement during the winter and summer seasons as systems tend to be blocked from our area by a persistent dome of high pressure. That means "what you got, you keep." If it's hot, sticky and dry like summertime, you keep that. If it's cold, gray and dry like wintertime, you keep that. BUT this scenario times out during our spring season.
So this "stable atmosphere for the weekend" means we keep sunny skies, light winds and low humidities all weekend long, and into next week. Perfect for golf, or gardening, honey-do projects, and golf. Lighter winds and temperatures in the 70s will be great for scoring at The RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links.
The dominating high will slowly start to slide offshore into the Atlantic Saturday night, and our winds will shift more southerly by Sunday when we hit 80 degrees. And 80s for the week ahead though we will be watching a weakening cold front approaching mid-week.
Horribly destructive storms are developing for the Central Plains over the weekend and the core of that system will track toward the Great Lakes. A trailing cold front will try to bring us showers and storms, most likely on Wednesday as of this writing. But no worries for the Lowcountry or Coastal Empire this weekend! The string continues…
