HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) - A Hilton Head man has his friend to thank for winning a $200,000 prize from the South Carolina lottery.
The winner admits he had no intention of playing until his friend coaxed him into buying the last Aces High instant lottery game ticket in the store’s display.
“Normally I’m stubborn, but for some reason I agreed and bought that ticket,” he stated in a news release.
He stood outside the Enmark Station on Palmetto Bay Rd. to scratch the $10 ticket and when the ticket revealed a $200,000 prize he was convinced his friend was playing a joke, but his friend wasn’t laughing.
“I hope he doesn’t feel too bad, because he could have bought the ticket,” the winner said.
For selling the claimed winning ticket, the Enmark Station on Hilton Head Island received a commission of $2,000.
