2,000 sea turtle nests on SC beaches | News

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC)- Nearly 2,000 sea turtle nests have been reported on South Carolina
beaches.

So far this year, 175
loggerhead nests have been reported on Hilton Head Island. There are 70 at Hunting Island State Park and
23 on Harbor Island, which is where the first nest was spotted this year.

The turtles should begin to hatch mid to late July.

Oceanfront lights should be turned off from dusk until dawn as they
disorient baby turtles as they make their way to the ocean.
