Man assaulted, robbed during car repair | News

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC)- The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a
strong arm robbery that occurred Friday afternoon outside a north end home.
Just before 11 p.m. Friday, a 30-year-old man reported being
assaulted and robbed earlier in the day at a home on Baygall Road.
The victim told deputies that a friend had set him up for a
job doing automotive repairs for someone on Baygall Road. The victim said he had
been taken to an unknown address on Baygall Road early Friday morning, where he
began working on a vehicle.
At some point during the day, the vehicle's owner approached
him and became angry because could not finish the repairs in one day. Both the
friend and vehicle owner pushed him to the ground and punched and kicked him
repeatedly, according to the sheriff's office. During the assault, the suspects
removed cash from the victim's pants pocket.
The victim continued to work on the vehicle after the
suspects threatened to assault again if he didn't hurry up and finish the
repairs. At about 5 p.m., the victim was dropped off at the Sunoco gas station
at Northridge Plaza. He suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention.
Investigators are following up on leads the identity of the two
suspects.
