HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC)- Lots of excitement at
the RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing on Hilton Head Island Friday as Boeing
showcased their new plane.
With cameras in hand,
thousands of people lined the 18th fairway as Boeing's 787 Dreamliner made
a low altitude flyover. It came over at 1,000 feet and climbed
to 10,000 feet in the air. This is the same commercial airplane
South Carolinians are building at Boeing's plant in North
Charleston.
Many spectators at
the tournament were excited about the unique opportunity.
"It was awesome,
absolutely awesome," said Nancy Cox. "If left like I could
touch it."
"It was just great
having the opportunity to see something like that, knowing its going to be out
there. It was great to be able to see it," said Tom Cox.
The one that flew over Friday is a test plane but Boeing's first Dreamliner will go on sale April 27. The new plane has fuel efficient engines
and a lot of amazing new technology.
A spokeswoman from
Boeing said they do flyovers from time to time for special events but
were pretty excited to do this one since it is being built in the
Palmetto State.
