Hilton Head man charged in 'bomb' bank robberies

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC)- A Hilton Head Island man has been arrested and charged with robbing two Lowcountry banks in as many days.

About 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Beaufort County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a Bank of America at 21 Hatton Place.

Bank workers told deputies that a white male walked into the bank, showed a note referencing a bomb and demanded money, according to the BCSO.

The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of cash and took off. No one was injured.

Pedestrian robbed on Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC)- The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a
strong arm robbery that occurred late Wednesday night on Hilton Head Island.

At about11:30 p.m. Wednesday, 25-year-old male told deputies
he had been robbed by two men. The victim said he had been walking on Leg O'
Mutton Road and as he approached the Indigo Run traffic circle, two black males
suddenly appeared behind him from a wooded area, according to a BCSO news
release.

Police: Man stabbed roommate in the eye

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC)- Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a stabbing that took place at a South end apartment early Thursday morning.

Just after 4 a.m., sheriff's deputies responded to Brighton Bay unit #721 in reference to a stabbing that had just occurred. During the course of the ensuing investigation, authorities learned that a male victim had been stabbed in the eye as a result of an argument with his roommate.

Free car care clinic for women offered on HHI

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC)- Island Tire &
Automotive Services is holding a free car care clinic for women on Saturday.

It will be held from
noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at 4 Palmetto Bay Rd. on Hilton Head Island.

Experts from Island
Tire & Automotive Services and guest speakers will be answering questions
about routine vehicle maintenance and provide tips on how to keep vehicles running
longer while getting better gas mileage.

Bluffton teen charged with bringing gun to school

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC)- A 17-year-old boy is in custody Wednesday morning. 

HHI bank robbery suspect nabbed

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC)- A
man accused of a bank robbery Thursday morning on Hilton Head Island is in
custody.

A
suspect walked into Bank of America on Hatton Place on Hilton Head Island. He
gave a note to the teller that stated he had a bomb and wanted money.

The
FBI and deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office responded.

The
suspect was found a few blocks away at the Quality Inn on Museum Drive. His
name has not yet been released.

The
FBI and BCSO deputies said they believe the suspect is the same one from Wednesday's
bank robbery.

Pavement work continues on SC Hwy 170

BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC)- Pavement
repairs on SC Hwy 170 will continue from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. May 5, weather
permitting.

Crews
will be doing work in both the northbound and southbound lanes.

The
lane restrictions will be in effect from just south of Tidewatch Drive on SC 170
to the SC 46 traffic circle.

Drivers traveling near the project's construction zone are
asked to be aware of equipment and crews working in the area.
