Beaufort County Sheriff's Office to get new headquarters

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Southern
Enforcement Branch is getting a new building. 

The town of Hilton Head Island purchased
a 23,000 square foot building for around $2 million, which will be the new
headquarters for the BCSO.

Archaeologists discover part of Mitchelville during airport expansion

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC)- Tuesday, during the tree clearing phase of
the Hilton Head Airport Expansion Project, archaeologists discovered part of the
Mitchelville settlement. Mitchelville was established as a freedmen's town in
1862 near the present day Beach City Road. It was established by Union General
Ormsby Mitchel to be a self-governing town for recently freed slaves during the
war.

Hilton Head restaurants are hiring

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC)- Good meals are easy to come by on Hilton Head Island. With diners showing up sooner than usual, restaurants also are ready to hire earlier. 

Some eateries are looking to beef up their staffs five-fold. Bombora's, Java Joes and Chart House are among those where business is booming.
